Decades of Strengthening Brands Nationwide
Established in 1931, Acme Wiley would eventually become known as ICON Identity Solutions and later ICON prior to its merger with MC Group. Throughout this journey, the company remained a leading brand implementation service provider.
For decades, ICON Identity Solutions provided a variety of services across three business segments. These included signage solutions, which comprised in-house signage manufacturing and installation, facilities maintenance services, such as preventive and on-call maintenance and energy services like LED retrofits; and refresh & remodel construction services for facility renovations.
What separated ICON from many of its competitors was its focus on in-house manufacturing services. The organization operated multiple facilities for designing, building, and servicing exterior and interior signage. There, expert technicians developed and value-engineered signage solutions for some of the largest and most recognized brands across the country.
ICON Identity Solutions Joins MC Group
In 2019, ICON merged with MC Group — a competing provider of signage, maintenance, and energy solutions headquartered in Northeast Ohio. Combined, ICON and MC Group had created one of the largest, experienced, and multi-industry-focused brand implementation organizations nationwide. The following year, recognizing the potential of this union, the two organizations — temporarily known as MC Group | ICON — rebranded to Stratus. The Stratus family expanded in 2021 to include MLE, Inc. — a major brand implementation company that added capabilities in logistics, warehousing, and installation to our portfolio.
Today, Stratus continues the brand implementation capabilities that ICON upheld for nearly a century. With exterior and interior signage services (including the continuation of in-house manufacturing services), energy solutions, preventive and on-call maintenance services, and refresh & remodel construction solutions, Stratus has become one of the largest service providers supporting numerous markets and some of the most recognized brands.
